Following San Ignacio we headed to the beach. I drove part of the way...kind of fun because the speedometer is in kilometers so even if you are only going 60-65mph it says 90-100kph and you feel like you're flying. There aren't really lines on the road, passing happens whenever yo
u get a chance and you have to be constantly on the lookout for stray, unmarked speed bumps. They tend to crop up around towns and villages but you can never be sure.We made a mad dash for the last ferry over to Placencia and left the car behind for the next couple of days which was a nice change. Prior to that there had been a lot of driving. For being a small country, things are still spread out.
Spent one day snorkeling at Laughing Bird Caye (an actual functioning national park).
Saw barracuda, lobsters, lots of coraland colorful fish. Chased a pod of dolphins in the boat, but everytime we got close to them they would dive.
Bother. The closing event of the vacation was attending a Mayan wedding...more on that in a bit.The almost full moon.

Boats at Laughing Bird Caye.

A boat full of...well...boats.

Beach construction or mangrove destruction, depending on how you look at it.
